Electric Dog Grooming Clippers

Be very careful when trimming a dog's chest area hair in order to not hurt the dog's nipples. If you are using an electric dog grooming clipper you will need to use special ones that have interchangeable blades that have more separate and wider teeth, which are less dangerous than the common ones. In certain modern cuts and in some terriers you will need to even out the sheared area with the longer areas. In order to do this you will need to cut in the direction of the dog's hair, gradually separating the machine from the skin, specifically on the sides. All of the areas should be cut at the same length and at the same time so that you don't have to be constantly changing the blades. Remember that if your dog seems to be nervous or uncomfortable you will have to stop. Keep in mind that a dog needs to learn to get used to the sound of a buzzer, so go easy on him and show him the machine while talking to him and soothing him so he gets used to it. 

Things to consider while buzzing or trimming a dog: Make sure to not focus only on one spot while cutting the dog's hair, move your hands all around. The last thing you want is for there to be a bald spot on the dog's coat. If you notice that you have missed something, there is always a chance to go back in the end and fix it up to even it out. Whether you are trimming or shearing the dog it's important to remember to follow the direction the hair grows in; in other words, horizontally on the back, vertically on the shoulders, and sideways on the sides and behind the thighs.
