Garlic powder: Garlic powder is a powdered substance that is made out of dried and ground garlic. Very finely crushed garlic cloves can be used as a substitute if you do not have garlic powder available. It is important to keep in mind

 

though that there are dogs that are allergic to garlic and or garlic powder

Gelatine: Gelatine is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless product that is used for thickening. It is a protein that is taken from bone or some kinds of seaweed such as alginates or agar-agar. This product comes in two forms; one is as a powder and the other as a see through sheet, which can usually be dissolved in warm water. Gelatin does not have any substitute.

Graham flour: Graham flour is usually made out of ground bran wheat flakes and varies in different degrees when it comes to the coarseness. Usually the germ in it is taken out so that it lasts longer. Graham flour is a little sweeter than normal whole-wheat flour. Coarse whole-wheat flour can be used as a substitute.

 

Kelp powder: Kelp is indeed actually a name that is used for other types of seaweed that can be eaten. Very finely chopped dried parsley can be used as a substitute however using dried parsley changes the mineral and vitamin content used in the dog cookies or biscuits.

Kibble: Kibble is a coarse ground grain or meal and it is very often times used in dog foods. In recipes with kibble, any kind of dry dog food can be used.

Oat bran: Oat bran consists of the outer part of the oats, and this has a very high content of fiber. A substitute for oat bran is wheat bran.

Rolled oats or oatmeal: There are two varieties of rolled oats, one is slow cooking and the other is the fast cooking variety and either one can be used in cookie and biscuit recipes for dogs. Make sure though to not use instant oatmeal packets since there are other ingredients in them besides the actual oatmeal.

 

Dry pumpkin seeds: Dried pumpkin seeds have magnesium, phosphorous, zinc, iron, copper, niacin, potassium, and folic acid in them. Besides all of these excellent qualities it also adds a nice and pleasant crunch to dog cookies. Dry pumpkin seeds can be used either roasted or raw, however keep in mind that the ones that are commercially sold might have oil and salt in them.

Rice flour: Rice flour is a sweet powder that is made out of grain rice and it becomes moist, sticky and hard when it is cooked. It sort of has a chewy texture to it and it is very popular in pastries, buns and dumplings. It has a higher content of waxy starch than medium sized or long sized rice. Rice flour does not have a substitute.

Rye flour: Rye flour is milled from a cereal grass and it is a dark heavy gluten flour. Rye flour is available in four different varieties, which are pumpernickel, dark, medium and light. Rye flour does not have a substitute.
