Stop Dog Jumping
When people try hard to get their dog to stop jumping they are in affect simply exasperating the problem by rewarding it with attention. The tack to take is one of teaching an alternative to the jumping problem. Many dog owners teach their dog to Sit and Stay while visitors are presented.The Sit/Stay command is an action clearly incompatible with jumping. It gives the dog a responsibility and if you are sure to reinforce his good behavior with treats and rewards, soon enough you will no longer have an obnoxious dog. One mistake dog lovers often make is allowing dogs to jump on them. If you are going to train your dog not to jump then he must have consistency or else he will become confused. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to teach something. Only to have all your efforts undermined by someone, unintentionally, letting your dog do the very thing you are trying to get him to part with.
