Dogs and Their Weight
If you are interested in knowing how to see if your dog is too thin or overweight, there is a simple way of doing this; run your hands along the sides of the dog. You should be able to feel the ribs of the dog with some layers of fat over them. However, if the ribs of the dog are very visible, this indicates that the dog is too thin. On the other hand if when rubbing your hands on the dog's side, you cannot feel the ribs at all, your pooch might is probably overweight. Obviously the best way to tell is by taking your dog to his regular veterinarian check ups to confirm this.

Talk to your veterinarian if your dog is having weight problems. If you confirm that your dog is in the red as far as his weight is concerned, you will need to remedy the situation by reducing the amount of food you are giving him every week (normally by 10%). You can also help your dog lose weight by encouraging him to do extra physical exercise which can be done by taking him out on walks more often and spending more time playing with him. There are many fun activities and sports you can do with your dog such as Frisbee, playing catch etc. The great thing about doing this regularly is that it will also keep you in shape too! So get out and work out!
