Dog Training Sport

Dog Training Sport

You must not be depending on the chronometer during dog training sport exercises, but you must let the dog vent in a natural place where he is out of harms way. There are also limits for games and sports out in the nature, even some prohibitions. The quality of the place works a lot better for the quick games than the simple ones: the zone must be free of garbage, waste (especially crystals, boats and plastics), and holes in the ground (some could be covered in leafs), and the floor mustn't be too slippery. The game must be limited to the center of the ground if the game field is surrounded by streets, buildings, or fences. Check the area before letting your dog jump an obstacle (pond, trunk, or tree). Appropriate terrain for games that require lots of space (Frisbee, balls, racing): big prairies with out trees, situated in the confinements of the open fields or near the woods, in a isolated place, green parks which allow playing with your dog.

Important Tips for Dog Training

  • The dog is guided by the road and the border of the path when he is on the side of bike or when he is running with the mater. That's why you will only let the loose the dog that has imperative training and ones that will keep up with you every moment of the way. The same thing happens with bathing: the liberty of bathing on their own is only granted to the ones that come out as soon as commanded.
  • Dogs with good hunting instincts must not be allowed loose in places where there is an abundance of prey. Also be careful with the dogs that go chasing bikers, people running, cats and chicken.
  • Here's a nice training tip that has pretty good results with adult dogs: place him the training leash and strongly pull (very important!) on it every time he tries to go running after someone. Accompany the action with energetic <no!>. Don't reprimand the dog when he returns form hunting or else he will associate it with his return.
  • We must also count with the meeting of other dogs: interrupt the game or exercise, pick up the toys and allow the encounter with out a leash.
  • Jumping in the garbage, grabbing dead animals, and eating carrion aren't bad for the dog but it just makes you want to stay away from him. Abbreviated solution for those cases is: place the bait, and as soon as he jumps for it, stop him with a no and yank at the leash. Repeat this until the dog obeys with out the leash, and just the command. Praise him each time he is successful.
  • Have in mind that the games involving small dogs and young dogs mustn't take long and be of little effort. To big dogs, since there physical development takes longer, you mustn't demand big efforts before they are 12 months old, especially when referring to jumping and taking long walks.
  • Reduce action games in the time of raining and snow, and omit them completely when its too cold and the floor is frozen. For some races (English bulldogs, retrievers) its prohibited to play games in some very hot summer days, the same with old dogs are fat ones.
  • It fundamental to keep an eye on kids less than 12 year's of age with medium size or large dogs.
  • Finish the training before he dogs looses his interest in the games. If he looses interest or gets exhausted, it will be an experience that will affect him negatively for the next time you'll want to play that game with him.

Have some consideration with the rest
Its very strange that in a park, in the woods, or in recess park you will dispose of large space of to play with and practice sports with the dog. And don't forget that a loose dog can scare a pedestrian, biker, or kids. Although you know your dog is tamed and gentle others don't, so you will have to call him and interrupt your game at the right moment. As peace full as your dogs approach can be it can have strange reactions (tripping, falling, chasing) from the affected people. Consequences: The dog will feel insecure by this response of panic and fright and will start to bark and try to bite. Try to adapt you're your game schedule to the days or hours with least public display.
