Dog stealing and scavenging
Just like chewing, if you see that your dog is having a problem with picking up things hesees, the problem is probably because you are leaving too much for him to get into and leaving him unattended for too long. Dogs will often do this if they are bored and alone. Dogs also know that this is a way that they can get your attention. If you are having this problem, one way to prevent it is to put him inside his crate. Make sure that you have an eye on him constantly. Be intelligent with your precious items, don't leave clothes lying on the floor, put things away and out of his reach. Teach your dog to "Drop it" if he does grab something and focus his attention on something else. If he obeys you – make sure that you reward him. Prevent your dog by getting into this nasty habit by keeping things out of his reach, giving him too much freedom is harmful and can actually lead to danger, even death. Dogs are naturally curious and this behavior can lead them to dangers that you would not even imagine such as biting into electrical cords or eating toxic substances. Be intelligent and don't leave your dog unattended or alone especially when they are untrained or puppies.
