Dog sled Racing

Dog Sleds are traditionally used in the poles, and this custom has originated one of the most exciting dog sports, which perpetuates the utility of the Nordic Dog breeds. Competitions are divided into different categories, depending on the number of dogs. According to distances, there are 3 categories: Sprint (6-20 km), Mid-distance (40-100 km), and Long distance races (more than 100 km). The maximum quantity of dog that can be used is 7.

Alaskan Huskiesare, without a doubt, the favorite breed (40% of the participants are Alaskan Huskies), this because they have the perfect physical and mental qualities.

Siberian Huskies are also perfect for this kind of competitions, along with other Nordic breeds (Malamute,Samoyed, etc). They represent approximately the rest of the competitors.

These Nordic dogs are quiet and gentle to children, but remain alert beneath this mask, and have an utterly strong sense of hierarchy (as they are a primitive breed), which is why they need a firm hand for training. In addition, they need lots of space and the possibility of daily exercise. They are extremely independent and have a strong nerve, which is why they don't repress their natural escape instinct.
