Dogs and Bloat
Bloating is a very serious condition that can be life threatening and mortal to dogs. This often times occurs to large dogs and it is when the stomach fills up with air or food and causes it to turn, cutting off the blood supply to the body and many times it occurs after a dog has eaten a large meal. If you notice that your dog becomes restless, is drooling excessively, pacing, has a swollen stomach, or goes into shock, it's very possible he has bloat. Veterinarians and experts suggest feeding your dog two smaller meals a day instead of one large meal a day to prevent it from happening. Obviously you should never allow your dog to have full access to as much food as he wants. Another suggestion is to not allow your dog to get vigorous exercise an hour before or after he has eaten. As we previously mentioned bloating is a serious condition and can be life threatening. If your dog ever shows any of the symptoms mentioned above, don't hesitate to ask for help immediately! Remember that just a few minutes can mean saving your dog's life.
