Dog kidney diet

There are many diseases that attack dogs but some are worse than others, one of those is kidney disease. If you think that your dog might have this condition, it's extremely important to take him to the veterinarian for a proper diagnosis and treatment. Here are some signs of kidney disease:

• Vomiting
• Ulcers in the mouth
• Muscle atrophy
• Excessive thirst
• Weight loss
• Excessive amounts of urine
• Inability to urine
• Bad breath

If you have seen any of these signs in your dog you must take him to see a veterinarian and he will have to go through an immediate dietary change. Depending on the severity of the problem, you will find out the necessary treatment. If the problem is light, your dog might have to have a reduction of protein that helps relieve a damaged kidney. If there is a more serious problem, a high quality protein supplement will be necessary. If the treatment is not given to a dog on time, the dogs body will start drawing its own muscle stores to get the nutrients it is lacking and it will very quickly become withered. For aging dogs a higher amount of carbohydrate can be very beneficial.

Always give your dog lots of drinking water to help wash out his kidneys. For dogs that are already having kidney problems, feeding them soup is an excellent way to provide liquid.
