Dog House Building Plan -Building the Side Frames Step 03c
Building the Side Frames (03 of 03)
1. Secure the side frame to the floor base with twelve heavy wood screws.
dog house Construction Tip: With the plan it is important that the side frames are firmly fastened to the base, due to the weight of the side frame. Securing the side frame now will make construction and drilling a lot easier later.
2. Using wood screws fasten the sill to cripple studs beneath the window. The sill will set in place the lower part of the window framework.
3. Secure the longer cripple studs for the window to the middle support studs using wood screws (see photo 3G).
dog house Building Tip: Depending on the thickness of the wood available, the cripple studs may need to be cut down a bit in length using a saw. Do not cut them too much, as it is important they sit evenly with the sill and header.
These longer cripple studs will secure the side part for the window framework, a long with supporting the header.
The side frame has now been finished, and your one step closer to finishing your cedar dog house.
4. The same steps are repeated when attaching the other side frame; don't forget to use twelve heavy wood screws to ensure stability.
