Dog Grooming Products

Using a good technique on grooming your dog will not be of any use if you do not use the appropriate dog grooming products. As you know, a dog's skin is very different from that of a human's as far as its structure goes. A dog's skin is actually more sensitive that that of a humans and this is why products that can be used on human skin can cause adverse reactions to a dog's skin. You will save yourself time and money in the long run if you choose to use good quality products those of which you can find in specialized shops, sites, and dog grooming salons. Although these products are more expensive than others, they rule in quality, so pick wisely, your dog will thank you, and so will your pocket.

Dog shampoo: There are many different types of shampoo and the one you will need to get for your dog will vary depending on the type of hair and coat

your dog has. There are dogs that naturally have very greasy coats, whereas others have very dry and fragile coats that need to be re-hydrated in order to remain healthy.

There are some dog shampoo's that are made with different types of proteins and that go well with most types of hair and coats and that give softness and vitality to the dog. There are also shampoos that are oil based, animal or vegetable and these types of shampoos are recommended for dogs that have sensitive, dry coats that lack shininess. These shampoos are good because they nourish the dog's coat and hair. However, this shampoo should not be used on dogs that have greasy skin.

Powder for a dog's coat: There are certain powders that are used before trimming. These powders dry the dog's hair and facilitate the pulling of the hair. Ordinary talcum powder can be used (not too much though) to help absorb an excess of grease on the dog's skin and it is also useful for small cuts.
