Meaning of Dog Ear Position

The best way to tell a dogs mood is through it's ears, specially if the dog's ears are naturally in an upward position. But even dogs like a Spaniel or a Basset, that have fallen ears, can also express themselves with there ears. Here are a few examples:

• stiff ears indicate awareness, paying close attention and self-confidence;
• when it's ears go forward or to the side it means it's getting in position for a fight or paying very close attention to something. Regardless of this you should observe all the different gestures it makes all together;
• when it's ears are backwards or straightened out it indicates that the dog is insecure;
