Dog Anxiety Problems

A lot of the behavior problems dogs have are related to problems with anxiety. Anxiety can manifest itself in several ways, ranging from destroying things with their teeth to doing their needs inside the house, barking, growling, grunting, attacking because of fear, or by becoming hyperactive. And these problems occur because of different reasons as well. An example of this is when an owner yells at his dog too much, it can turn a normally peaceful dog into nervous one. Another thing that can stress a dog out is a constant change of his daily routine and it can make the dog become insecure. An example of this could be when a baby comes into the home, or when a member of the family is sick, even birthdays, holidays, or celebrations, people coming to visit etc. The owner must help the dog feel secure and calm in all of these types of events and circumstances.

Ask the rest of your family to help you out by keeping an eye on the dog at all times when you are having a family get together or party. It's also best dog were not present in these types of get parties or reunions, because an anxious dog will sometimes bother the guests. Give your dog his own space where he can relax and offer him several toys and chewing objects to avoid him from getting bored. Many dogs, once they have ended their infancy stage, go through a critical stage at the ages of six months to a year. In nature this is the age a dog finds their partner and, as domesticated animals, they can sometimes start to feel excessively united to their owners. A young dog that is left alone for long amounts of time can also develop separation anxiety. There are puppies that were not raised by their mother and those acquired from pet shops who have lived a very isolated life, that are also likely to suffer from anxiety problems, as well as those living in pounds etc. Avoid changing your dogs schedule too, make sure you feed him at the same times, take him out at the same times, let him play at the same times etc. all of these things are important, especially in the cases of older dogs.
