| When searching for a custom cat house with a deck I came across this great site that offered a number of different designs of cedar wood cat houses with decks. My cat loves lazing around and I figured that getting it a sundeck would be just the ticket. Did you know that cats feel quite happy in the heat of the day and love to bask in the rays of the sun? Did you every see a cat sleeping in a warm area during the heat of the day. Cats like to be a lot warmer than humans do. People start to feel uncomfortable when their skins' temperature gets higher than about 112 °F, but cats don't seem to mind skin temperatures up to about 126 °F. Most likely it has to do with the fact that cats are so closely related to desert animals. Domesticated cats can normally withstand the heat and cold of a temperate climate. Some cats like to stay in the shade and prefer cooler temperatures with some even taking an occasional dip in water to cool off. Although most cats dislike immersion in water, there is one exception and that is the Turkish Van cat. Most cats if continually exposed to water from a very young age, often will develop a fondness for it; however, this rarely if ever occurs naturally. Putting a sundeck on a cathouse is a nice touch of elegance and since love the sun and being warm it is great for them too. If the sundeck is up high enough it can also serve as a refuge from threats. Whether those threats come from other animals or humans. I also found one design of custom cat house that sported not only sundeck but also a higher roof deck above the cat house. This would give the cat the advantage of being able to be in the sun or shade depending on what it wanted. |
