Chili Dog Recipe
We ran into this chili dog recipe when looking for some new innovative ideas on what to feed our dog Pepper. We weren't sure about it at first since it was in essence a chili dog recipe, and seemed very different to anything we had ever fed Pepper so we talked to our veterinarian about it and he said it was fine in our dogs case. Pepper was delighted try it out.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
½ kilo ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
½ green pepper, chopped
½ can red kidney beans
½ can tomato sauce
½ cup chicken stock (look up directions for preparation)
Salt
Ground black pepper
1 tablespoon chilli powder
½ teaspoon ground cumin
Kibble or cooked rice
Heat up the vegetable over medium heat in a frying pan. Add in the ground beef and brown it. Once it has finished cooking, put the meat into a large pot.
Add in the onion, and bell pepper to the pot and cook over medium heat until the onion is transparent, it should take about 5 minutes. Next, add the onion mixture to the beef along with the beans, tomato sauce, and chicken stock. Mix well. Taste to see if it needs more salt or pepper. Add in the chili powder, cumin, tasting to make sure you don't put in too much. After seasonings have been placed in, simmer it covered for about 40 – 45 minutes.
One suggestion and thing to keep in mind when making this chili dog recipe is that dogs prefer blander food to humans. So don't over do it with the spices.
