Cheesy Ring Cookies for Dogs Recipe
Preparation
3 and ½ cups of whole-wheat flour
½ cup of chilled bacon drippings
1 egg
1 cup of milk, or as much as needed
1 package (8 ounces) of soft cream cheese
Preparation
- Place the oven rack in the center of the oven and pre heat the oven to 400 degrees F. Place 2 slightly greased baking pan on the side.
- Put the whole-wheat flour in a large size bowl and then use a pastry blender to cut in the bacon drippings.
- In a separate medium size bowl beat the egg with a wire whisk until it is foamy. Then beat in the milk and cream cheese until it has acquires a smooth consistency.
- Next, blend both the dry and wet preparations together with a spoon or use your hand until it becomes a soft dough and starts to pull away from the bowl it is in. If it is too dry add a teensy bit more milk to it at a time.
- Lightly flour a flat surface and turn the dough onto it. Knead it several times. Then break off egg size pieces of dough and roll them in between your hands. Form them into cigar shapes. Then lay them onto the previously prepared baking pans and form them into a ring shape. Pinch them together so they stay attached.
- Bake them for around 20 to 25 minutes or until they obtain a light brown color. Once done, take them out of the oven and allow them to cool to normal temperature. Turn the oven off at this point.
- Once the rings have cooled, put them back inside the warm oven in one baking tray and allow them to sit in there undisturbed without opening the oven door for 10 to 15 hours straight.
