Canine Dog Massage. Massaging your Dog.
Most people do not consider a canine massage but this is quite a successful method of getting a quieter dog. One of the best techniques is the Tellington Touch, or T-touch. Originally this was used on horses by Linda Tellington Jones, and it has been usedon all kinds of animals with behavior problems. Dogs show their emotions in their face and mouth a lot, and most restless dogs that are either tense, aggressive, or hyperactive have a tendency to bark and chew to relieve their tension. Therapeutic massages on their muzzle and gum line often help animals with these problems. One of the greatest T-touch techniques is by making little circles on the muzzle and jaw with you fingers. Gently move the skin in clockwise direction forming a full circle, then take your hand off and do another circle right next to it. Do this gently and take your time at it. Help your dog get accustomed to this by sitting on the floor or on a chair and have your dog sit in between your feet. Support his jaw with one of your hands while you make circles with the other. Pressure of this method should be as light as if you were to make circles on your own eyelids. You can put your finger under your dog's lip and make little circles on the gum line too. You should wet your fingers before since some dogs have dry mouths.
