Canine Leptospirosis
We are going to spend some days at a farm: Two kinds of this bacteria disease, caused by the Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae and Leptospira canicola, have been identified. The first serum type is related with rats, and some dogs, like Terriers, risk to be infected at agricultural zones, where can get in contact with the bacteria through urine. A dog living on a farm, and that has recovered from this disease, can also be a source of infection, while excreting the bacteria through urine. The infection with Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae normally leads to jaundice; among the first symptoms are also included diarrhea, vomiting and fever. In later periods, body temperature decreases significantly, and the dog can have difficulties to drink and breath.
Parvovirus infection is quite known. Is it still a great threat?
