These types of devices will claim to somewhat control or even stop the excessive baking of some dogs. Well... they surely are as all such tool must pass stiff government safety testing before entering the market place. When choosing and buying a Barking Dog Collar, the part the should matter the most to you is it's effectiveness as well as the physical consequences on your dog.
How does such a Dog Collar stop your dog from barking anyway?
Well, here is the thing. Some will literally electrify your dog, yes! Electric shocks !! That's how most of them work actually. A 12 Volts battery connected to a collar is placed around your dog's neck. The electric anti barking dog collar has small metal prongs that will also "good electricity flow" when your dog barks.
Just imagine that, each time your dog barks, a microphone detects the noise or barking sound made by "your best friend" (I would hate to see what you do to your enemies... haha! ) an electroshock is given to your dog. The large dog, but often very tiny and small animal quickly learns to be quite. It's a pretty cruel way, in my eyes, to keep your dog's barking under control. Although effective, it's not very nice to do this a a friend that's so loyal to you.
As for Ultrasonic Dog Collars that claim to emit a sound that make your dog stop barking? Well, I truly don't know if they even work. So, I won't comment on them either way.
The other technology that I know of are the Air or Citronella Spray Anti Barking Dog Collars. I first bought one of these for my Poodle "Azul" I thought there was no way my little Poodle could bark enough for me to electrocute it each time it wanted to bark. So, I ordered one and now, yes, I sell them here. It's a nice simple and human way to control your dog's nuisance barks. The 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 2" device of 3oz in weight is attached to a simple nylon dog collar. The device is called the "Gentle Spray" as it's name tells you, it discharges are air spray ( Citronella or Scentless odor ) under your dog's neck. The spray is controlled and detected by a microphone in the unit. For some reason the air spray bugs & annoys the heck out of the pet, appears to distract it and it stops barking.
The Gentle Spray comes with batteries and a a can of spray included. Getting extra batteries is always a good idea as the drain faster than you will run out of spray.
