Baking Suggestions

There are certain secrets as far as preserving dog cookies after they have been baked. One easy way is to first of all follow the directions indicated for the recipe. Once the cookies are baked, make sure to allow them to cool a little. Then put them all onto a baking sheet or tray and put the tray back into the oven (heat off) for around 8 hours or more. The cookies should be allowed to sit in the oven without being disturbed or moved (and without opening the oven door), for that amount of time. During this time, the cookies will have a chance to dry and it will get rid of the moisture that is in the cookies. Then, it is suggested to keep the cookies in a container that isn't airtight or a paper bag. This will keep the treats or cookies more intact and will reduce the chance of mold forming on them.

One very good ingredient to use for dog treats or cookies is whole-wheat flour.

If by any chance you just so happen to have added too much liquid to your recipe use 1 or more tablespoons of flour, but don't add anything else but flour.

Wheat based products tend to attract moths especially if they are kept in dark places for a long period of time. These types of dog cookies are best kept out in the open. A lot of dogs really enjoy getting a crunchy treat as they love munching on them, and a plus is that crunchy things can actually help to keep their teeth clean.

Some of the cookies we have included in this site need chicken, beef or lamb broth. However if you need to you can use bouillon cubes, but obviously making the real broth is always preferable and is healthier. Remember also that there are a lot of bouillon cubes that contain chemicals, such as monosodium glutamate. Avoid giving this product to your dog at all cost.
