Aggressive Dogs
Aggressive dogs: If and when a dog is aggressive toward his human family by growling at them, or even biting at them when they get too close, there is a problem in the relationship between the dog and the family. One possible problem might be communication. As you know, each dog has its own personality and character by nature and some are more dominant then others. It's important that people learn to choose the right breed and kind of dog according to their personal experience with dogs. If a person with a weaker personality acquires a dominant dog, it's probable they will not get along very well. Some of the dominant dogs are: Rottweilers, Doberman pinschers, Yorkshires, and Jack Russell Terriers. These breeds require an owner that knows how to keep them in their place, and they are not recommended for people who do not have experience with dogs. If you find that you are not able to control or handle your dog the correct way, your best option is to get help from a professional or expert in canine conduct. This should be done before the dog gets aggressive toward you or anyone in your family.
Dog Status: If your dog is giving your trouble with wanting to be the leader of your family, you must reduce his social status immediately by applying certain rigorous rules. Act coldly toward the dog and do not allow him to get up on the couches or on your bed. If the dog tries to get your attention, ignore him completely, and leave him alone. Avoid any type of situation that could cause the dog to attack you or anyone.
Questions and answers
Q: My sister stepped on the dog by accident and the dog bit her foot and hurt her really bad. Each time my sister gets near the dog, he growls at her. What should we do?
A: Your sister is going to have to win the dogs trust over again. Have your sister specifically take the dog out on walks, feed him etc. She should talk to the dog with a soft, friendly voice and she should make sure she moves slowly while around the dog to avoid the dog from getting scared and attacking her again.
