Advice for Parents with Kids that do not Fear Dogs

Don't tell the kid tales where a "ferocious wolf" is included, better explain him with simple and adequate words, according to his age, that it is only a literary invention. Teach the child to not jump over an unknown dog, but to approach him slowly, calling him and offering his hand so the dog can smell it. A dog will never bite someone that approaches correctly, without previous warning. If the kid is a bit older, explain him how the dog warns before attacking: bristly hair, ears back, growling. Make him understand that this means the dog don't want to be bothered or touched, and to respect his wish. As said before, teach him not to shout or run when in front of a dog.
