Golden Retrievers at 3 & 4 monthsIn between the 3rd and 4th month they start teething. Don't panic if your puppy, after playing with other puppies, comes to you with a bleeding snout. His baby teeth loosen up and get moved forward by the teeth that are growing in their place, and when they play, a tooth may remain hanging on one of his playmate's fur. It's also normal to see two rows of teeth; only if a particular tooth won't fall out will you need to go to the veterinarian. During teething time you should give your dog enough stuff to bite and chew on. At his nine months, the Golden has almost always reached his definitive shoulder height. They sometimes grow an inch more. However, his chest fully matures when he's about 3 years old. Golden Retrievers need a lot of time to develop. Their hair usually gets to its definite color when they're 3, or sometimes even more. Every time their hair changes, it gets darker. There are no exact figures as to when a male dog will raise his leg to urinate and when a female dog first enters in heat, but it's usually in the first year. Sexual maturity is usually accompanied by a phase called "the age of the turkey" during which your young, well-educated dog will suddenly not pay attention to what you tell him. But for this reason you shouldn't worry either. It will pass! However, you shouldn't let your dog get away with all his rebellious attitudes and simply brush them off as "puberty". Once your male has raised his leg and your female has been in heat for the first time, you can have the go thought the personality test in any Retriever Club. The Personality Test: The personality test or the certification of his personal abilities prove the abilities of your young, yet sexually mature, Retriever. A dog's personality is always a result of the combination of hereditary factors and experiences acquired along the way. His resistance to gunshot noise, his conduct when exposed to optical and acoustic influences, his relation with his owner and his attitude towards strangers are all evaluated. Your dog's personality test gives his breeder certain information about the aptitudes of the entire litter, and the different owners can then understand some of the habits or conducts of their Golden Retrievers. |
