Fighting Golden Retriever

The situation mentioned above can lead to a fight like a simple ritual which, actually, presents fewer problems than what people think. The growls sound of threatening and it seems very dangerous when two dogs clench together in a fight, after which one stands on top of the other. The defeated must not move; every movement could may the stronger one growl even more and maybe even bite. Do not jump in if you realize that both dogs dominate this ritual fight. The biggest mistake would be to call the defeated dog, as he would probably move, provoking an immediate reaction from the winner.

In case of an emergency, you could call on the other dog, but then the dog would have to be really obedient. Therefore, you have no alternative but to wait for the dog separates, which can take up to a couple of minutes.

If you notice that one of the two dogs does not dominate this ritual; in other words, he doesn't understand or accept the position of defeated, or if he immediately attacks and bites, you can't keep on looking calmly. Keep it in an outdoor dog kennel for safety. Obviously, you don't always carry with you the suggested bucket of cold water and maybe you don't have enough strength to separate two big dogs in the middle of a gruesome fight. What can help is making a loud explosive noise, or throwing something in between them; in the exact moment that the dogs get startled, the owners have to energetically jump in and separate them.
