  • The regular medicine your dog takes
  • Drinkable ampoules with calcium for spasms, allergic reactions or insect bites
  • Bach flower drops
  • Ear-cleaning liquid
  • Eye drops in single-use ampoules
  • A soft disinfectant, like oxygen peroxide
  • A healing salve, liquid spray-on bandaging
  • Cotton and adhesive tape
  • Some gauze bandages
  • Big and small handkerchiefs
  • Protective shoes for wounded paws
  • A pair of scissors and simple tweezers
  • Special tick tweezers
  • Flee and tick prevention substances

The vacations first-aid kit: With anticipation, talk about your vacation plans to your vet. According to the country you are planning on visiting, it would be convenient to prevent against the common insects there. It is advisable not to go to countries in the Mediterranean because of the dangerous insects. There is a "heart worm infection" that is extremely dangerous, and is transmitted by mosquitoes. It is very severe and even by treating it, it can lead to death due to a trombosis (a clogging up of the veins). Besides, there are a lot of tropical diseases that can be dangerous for your Golden. If after returning from your vacations, you notice your dog's not feeling well or gets sick, your vet should know where and when you were on vacations. Anyhow, if you're going to take your dog on vacations, you should at least take the following items:

  • Diarrhea medicine
  • Fever and vomit pills
  • Bandaging material with enough cotton
  • Adhesive tape
  • Emergency drops (eyes, ears)
  • Energy drinks
  • Insect repellant and soother
  • Sterilized bandages
  • A rescue blanket
