Golden Retriever Castration, Neutering & Sterilization.
You might have to have your male dog castrated, either by medical indication or conduct problems related to his sexual life. Your dog suffers if, in spite of the good education you may have given him, he goes after every dog in heat; if he bums around, putting himself and others in danger or if he always reacts to the neighboring female dog's heat with barks, refusing to eat and with diarrhea. If the male is too aggressive when around other males, you should ask yourself if indeed his education was good or if maybe a castration will help. To try it out, he can be "chemically" castrated, but this castration only lasts a couple of weeks and it isn't advisable to repeat it too often.
Female dogs that are not intended to be used for reproduction can be sterilized to avoid unwanted descendants. In this case they will never suffer from the feared ovary infection. The sterilization of female dogs to avoid malignant tumors is only effective if done when they are young. Castration will be necessary in case there are severe ovary infection and serious disorder in the menstrual cycle.
On the other hand, castration also has negative side effects. The fur becomes softer and softer, more prone to getting tangled up and they tend to put on weight. Castrated female dogs respond with problems of incontinence (can't control their bladder). Bear in mind also that castrated dogs (male and female) can not be shown in expositions.
