Enhance Your Golden Retrievers Beauty

Grooming a Golden Retriever

When grooming and snipping, you cut the hair, highlighting your Golden Retrievers' beautiful lines and covering any defects. Many owners of male dogs are proud of the way their dogs have a "lion like" mane, which grows abundantly under their chest. But this generally affects the dog's proportions: the front part seems too marked, and the back seems to look a bit weak. A neck with long hair seems to be shorter than it really is. When dogs get in the water frequently, the part around the neck takes a long time to dry and eczema start to form. Sometimes dogs also start to smell bad around that area. However, if your golden has to work a lot in between the bushes, this ruff (hair around the neck of the animal) can protect him from injuries. The places to snip are the following: eras, and neck, chest, the front legs (from the top to the toes), under the paws and the tail. Our Modular Dog Kennel trainers or an expert cut you need a very few instruments: a comb, a brush, a sharp pair of scissors and snipping scissors.

First comb all his hair and fluff out the compact parts and remove any weeds or strange objects. With the straight scissors, remove volume from the hair that is around the chest and neck. You need to use a straight pair of scissors for the border of the ears. The cross between the ears and the neck needs to be fluid. You hardly have to change much on the fur of the loins. With the straight scissors you make a nice and typical cut on the tail - the hair there should be at least the width of your hand. In the front legs, first straighten out the hair under the paws with the straight scissors. Then, snip the hairs that stand out in between the metatarsus (the skeleton of the foot between the toes and the tarsus) and the hock. In the hind legs, you also have to cut the bottom part and then straighten it out until the hoofs with the scissors. According to how thick his fur is, the whole procedure can take you about one hour. Therefore, especially with a young dog, you should distribute this task into a couple of days, so as not to put your dog's patience to a test. Interrupt the cutting when your dog becomes impatient and take it up again when he's tired and calmer. The best thing of course would be for you to observe this whole process at either a pet salon or at an exposition in order to learn.
