Golden Retriever and Other Pets

Golden Retrievers usually get along well with other animals that belong to his "pack". From the beginning, the young Retriever has to get used to living together: he's forbidden to chase or frighten off chickens, cats or ducks. Living with 2 or more Golden Retrievers normally doesn't present any problems because they understand each other well.

Male or female? Temperament and character do not depend on the sex. Among the Golden, as in any breed, there are loving, delicate males who wouldn't even think of getting into a fight and others who don't skip the chance to jump right in. There are also females who like to fight and other who are pleasing. The males raise their legs at every corner (however, with a good education, you can put limits to this habit), react with more or less emphasis to a female's aroma, and they pretty much make their own decisions.

Females are in heat twice a year, which means that your yard will be the center of attraction during those periods.

How much does a dog cost? The purchase price is not the main cost; the following expenses are what are usually higher than what you initially expect. Canine taxes (where applicable), vaccines, worm medicine, civil responsibility insurance (where applicable) and equipment can be calculated on a yearly basis, not including the food. If your dog gets sick several times a year or if he needs a special diet, the expenses will increase to an unimaginable figure. If you want to train your dog, or participate in shows or other event, go adding up the costs.
