When to apply techniques depending on the circumstance

When the trainer observes that the dog returns to him or her, or does not want to distance itself from him or her, or when the dog constantly calls on the trainer by barking etc.

Basic guidelines: In these cases the trainer will have to show the dog a firm, inert and immutable attitude being very careful to not show any type of physical reaction such as verbal or even facial and the trainer must in these cases pretend to act like a mannequin.

Technique of innocuous reestablishment by inserting sounds: The objective of this technique is to reestablish the work of the dog in an innocuous way while in a place full of possible deviating distractions.

In what cases this situation will need to be applied: This type of resource will need to be done by not encouraging or talking to the dog, which is something that is done in the beginning stages of the training although absolute silence will obviously not be possible when the dog is in a real search and rescue mission since there will be a lot of noise all around. You must take into account that in this phase the dog should no longer undergo the fragile susceptibility it had when it first started off. By this time, the dog should already have the capacity to reestablish its own conduct.

Basic norms: The perception on part of the dog of a brief interfering noise that has been intentionally provoked (such as sliding a heavy object on the cement or pavement, banging a big object etc), will most likely cause the dog's attention to deviate and will interfere with it's attention span. When this happens it will be necessary for the trainer to impose on the dog spontaneously how it is it will need to react and what its conduct will need to be like. You will need to avoid letting the dog know before hand where the noise is coming from. The noise emitted must be done as spontaneously as possible so as to see how distracted the dog gets.
