Little Rock Arkansas Dog Boarding
Punishing a dog for eliminating in a non authorized area is something we discourage in our dog boarding facility in Little Rock Arkansas. One of the reasons is that when you punish your puppy for going in the house what you will be teaching him is to not go in front of you. Now he will hide under the bed or table to relieve himself. It was probably your fault in the first place if your puppy had an accident. Are you walking him frequently enough? Did you forget to walk him? If you want to spank yourself that is fine but leave your puppy alone. All punishing your puppy will do is give him the idea that going in front of someone is a punishable offense. Imagine what that will do to your leash using, house breaking program. If you want to help your puppy then reward him when he is successful. If he has an accident then just ignore him for a while. Put him in his crate or gated area. Clean up the mess and make sure to note the incident on your chart. There may be a pattern to his accidents and it is possible that he needs an extra walk outside. If you find yourself cleaning up accidents twice a week or more than you are most likely not walking your puppy often enough. Limiting your puppy's freedom to roam the house is essential to the house breaking process. Sometimes your dog might have what seems to you to be a setback in his housebreaking training. This could very well be brought on by the presence of an infection or parasites. So have your vet check your dog if there is an unexplainable relapse.
