Pittsburgh Dog Grooming

I live in Pittsburgh and Dog Grooming is something I have been interested in getting into for awhile now. I got into a dog grooming class and have been learning about some very interesting things. One of the last things we were looking into were the different things that cause ear infections and the procedures to clean out a dog's ears. A dog's ears should be checked for potential problems before attempting to clean them. Groomers are taught to write down descriptions of any suspicious conditions so that they can accurately let the pet owners know so they can then take the dog to the veterinarian. Some dogs have a very small amount of hair inside their ears but almost all dogs need to get the excess amount of wax and dirt taken out of their ears. Some of the most common signals of ear problems are when a dog shakes or scratches at his ears, if his ears are sensitive when the owner touches them, has a strong odor to them, hematomas are also an indicator of ear problems and they can be seen on the ear flap, redness and swelling, and melanomas. When a serious ear problem is detected the groomer can very gently clean the outside of the area of the ear and clean out the dirt and wax and is then required to tell the dog owner to get immediate veterinary attention especially if the dog is suffering. Our Pittsburgh Dog Grooming school also highlighted on the importance of sterilizing any tools that are used during any type of cleaning processes. Most importantly professional groomers need to understand the nature of ear problems and make sure the pet owners are told about any suspect conditions and recommend veterinary attention.
