We live in Harrisburg Pennsylvania and have a Dog Groomer that excels in her field of work in our opinion. Something she was talking to us last time we took our dog Camy in to get her regular grooming session was matting on dogs. Our dog has a lot of hair and often times gets mats so she suggested we help improve our dog's coat by brushing it out every day. She said that when Camy got a mat it would be necessary to take care of it by combing it out and if this could not be done entirely the ideal is to clip it off. However doing this is not as simple as it seems. There is actually a whole process to this and in some cases it can take hours, depending on how bad the mat is and how many you are dealing with. She told us that when dealing with a nasty mat we would first need to raise the mat up from Camy's skin and to start at the edge of the mat. The mat should be lifted up about half an inch from the skin and then clipped if it could not be combed out. She also told us it would be a good ideal to invest on a high quality pair of clippers. Our Harrisburg Pennsylvania Dog Groomer also said that anyone doing this job needs to be very patient and not rush; rushing can cause the dog to get hurt during the clipping session.
