Albany New York Dog Groomer

While in Albany New York, I took Kimmy to a Dog Groomer as she needed to have her coat clipped. We had been traveling in the car for a few days and Kimmy's coat had some mats in it and was due for a grooming session. I asked some friends to refer me to a good Albany New York Dog Groomer and was very delighted to find that the groomer they referred me to was just what Kimmy needed. My dog is a little bit uneasy when it comes time for grooming sessions and on this occasion I told the Albany New York Dog Groomer that I wanted to get Kimmy's entire body shaved so as to avoid problems during our travel. The groomer allowed me to be in the room while she was working and walked me through the process which was something I had never done in one of my dog's grooming sessions before and it turned out that there was a lot to be learned on the topic… a lot. After having gotten the mats out of Kimmy's coat she showed me how to use electric clippers on Kimmy's coat and even let me try it out. She said to try to make slow strokes with the clipper by following the way the hair lays, as this makes more even cuts and reduces the risk of hurting the dog. In the case of mats that have not been able to be removed with the comb, she said that it would be necessary to lay the clipper against the dog's skin and gently tug on the mat while at the same time moving the blades under the mat. She was very gentle and slow during the process and Kimmy didn't complain to my surprise.
