Xoloitzcuintle Dog Breed

Mexico

The bald Mexican dog has a lot in common with the Chinese crested dog but it is much bigger and the hair crest is smaller than in the Chinese breed. In Mexico, bald dogs have existed for a long time since the first narrations of the history of the country. Today the specimens of this breed are rare both in its country of origin as abroad.

Regarding its physical constitution, we may say that the Mexican bald dog looks like a griffon. The head is long and the eyes are dark or yellow. The ears are big and pricked; the tail is long and thin and it has a small plume at the end.

Except for this and a small sparse bun on the top of the skull, the dog is entirely bald and unlike other breeds and it sweats through the skin.

The most accepted colors are tanned dark brown, elephant gray or black but the mixture of brown and flesh-colored patches are also accepted. The minimum height at withers is 30 cm but 50 cm is normal.
