Vital functions of the puppy

 

Here I will give you a brief description of the vital functions of the puppy in relation to his age. Do not forget that puppies are born with immature nervous systems and brains and that the eyes and ears are still firmly shot; growth is very rapid and significant in the puppy, but even so until the first three weeks of age the day depend entirely on their mother. Anyway, here goes the list of vital functions:
 

Body temperature

  • Zero to 14 days 34.5-37.2°C
  • 15 to 28 days 36.1-37.7°C
  • over 30 days* 38.6°C

Respiratory rhythm

  • When born  12 inhalations/minute

     

  • 7 to 35 days 20/30 inhalations/minute
  • over 12 weeks 15/30 inhalations/minute

Cardiac rhythm

  • When born up to 120 pulsations/minute
  • 7 to 35 days up to 200 pulsations /minute
  • Over 12 weeks 70-130 pulsations /minute

Liquid requirements

In between 60 to 90 mL per kilo of body weight

Calorie requirements

60 to 70 kcal a day, per kilo of body weight

Number of excretions

 

Twice as many times as an adult; up to 8 or 10 times a day; the excrement of newborns is 80% liquid, whereas that of adults is in between 60 and 70%.
