The first thing you should know is that a vaccine is any virus or organic matter that, conveniently prepared, is inoculated to persons or animals -- and in this case to puppies and adult dogs -- thus protecting them from any serious health risk. The best age in which you should start a vaccine therapy on your puppies depends on the specific circumstances of each litter, in which case it is always best to consult your veterinarian. However, experts generally coincide that the best time to proceed with the vaccinations is around 40 to 45 days after birth; obviously, under the criteria of the veterinarian. It can begin to make sure that the vaccines are perfectly refrigerated until the moment of their use, and that not many people handle them. For this reason, many veterinarian laboratories send the vaccines directly to the veterinarian in order to avoid the middlemen.

Whoever applies the vaccination must be perfectly qualified and aware of the risks and secondary effects that might occur. It is also important to bear in mind that the animal must be perfectly healthy; otherwise, the vaccine will most probably not work correctly. Doubt of anybody that claims to have purchased "really cheap" vaccines, or that "so and so" brings them straight from "such and such a place". You never know what you can find nowadays. And, as my great great grandmother used to say, "when in doubt, don't".
