Second Postnatal Stage of Puppy
As of the third week, little by little, the puppies start becoming more independent; they are already able to control their physiological needs and don't require the maternal stimulation in order to do so, as they can see and hear what's around them, and they are able to play amongst themselves.
Schedule of the puppy's psychological development
Here's a brief description of how and when the puppy becomes more and more emotional and psychologically able to do things:
- 18 to 20 days: first signs of wanting to play
- 25 to 28 days: plays amongst litter mates
- 28 days: runs and walks
- 35 days: play with toys
- 40 days: constructively plays amongst litter mates
- 45 days: starts learning how to manually do things
- 48 days: starts learning to control their own body
- 10 to 12 weeks: starts to voluntarily control physiological needs
- more than 4 months: able to voluntarily control physiological needs for up to 8 hours
