A San Antonio Dog Breeder gave us some information on Bulldogs, since we were interested in getting one. He said that this dog was considered the national dog of England and that this is where it was originally bred, however it was bred as a fighting dog. These days though this breed has become a lot better known and is an excellent guard dog and companion dog. This dog seems to know how much strength and power it has and will use it when it is necessary. But is very patient when it comes to children. The San Antonio Dog Breeder also told us that when taking this dog out on walks it would be a good idea to keep the dog on the leash as they have a tendency to get into fights with other dogs. We were also told that the shape of the dog's muzzle might make it breathe very easily and often times it has problems with this, so because of this the owners should never over exercise it and even when it is a puppy still take great care over it to not cause it needless albeit unintentional suffering through overexertion. Hot muggy days are especially hard on this breed. The San Antonio Dog Breeder told us that this type of dog would do just fine by just taking him out on brisk walks. This dog is also known to be quite lazy at times and because of this it can become overweight. Our San Antonio Dog Breeder did tell us though that these dogs are very brave, loyal and a wonderful companion. In the end we had to wait six months to get our bulldog but were very happy about the outcome.
