In the dog world, the Russian Wolfhound is considered as the top one regarding beauty. There is no doubt that a good example of this breed, with its delicate lines, is a really beautiful dog.

The Borzoi reached its peak before the Russian Revolution, an age where no Russian Noble with a certain position that did not have his couple of Borzois, and in a time where the Tsar possessed a pack of hundreds of this type of hounds, which were used for a single purpose: wolf hunting. Despite of this matter, the Russian Wolfhound has a friendly but not effusive nature.

In general, the Russian Wolfhound is an elegant, fast, and gifted dog, with great muscular strength – Do not forget that in the past, this dog was exclusively used for killing wolves! – Its head must have a classic, long, thin, and narrow form, and almond-colored eyes. The body has to be very narrow, but with a larger chest; the back is curved upwards like a bow and covered with a long, silky, curly or straight coat. The tail is long and elegant, and must have dense and smooth fringes.

It was stated that the Tsar preferred lighter colors in those wolfhounds, but any color is acceptable. Its height at withers must be of no less than 75 cm for male dogs, and 71 for female dogs.
