Russian Black Terrier Dog BreedRussia Apparently in spite of its name, the Russian Terrier is not an old Russian breed nor a Terrier. It comes from the cross between the Giant Schnauzer and the Flandres Mountain Dog, having evolved possibly through the cross between the mentioned breeds and other breeds of dogs that come from the European West, introduced in Russia. It is possible that one of the ancestors was some autochthonous Russian breed that has disappeared a long time ago.The Russian Terrier is a medium-sized dog, with a robust constitution and a good skeleton and excellent musculature. A characteristic of this breed is its discretion in front of people that it does not know, but without being aggressive. It is very resistant and it easily adapts to different weathers and environments. It is easy to train. The difference between the genders is very obvious, because the males are thicker and rougher than females. The hair is thick and slightly wavy; neither curly nor smooth hair is allowed. The upper layer of hair is wire, thick and rough; the inner layer is abundant and softer. Other characteristics are: hard bristles forming a mustache, rough sideburns and prominent eyebrows. The color is black or dark gray. The height at withers is 66 to 72 cm in males and 64 to 70 cm in females. |
