Ovaries of the Female Dog
The ovaries, which are located in a position of flow intensity, behind the kidneys in the abdomen, on the organs, are responsible for producing reproductive hormones and cells. Every overeat is a round, solid, small structure that is found anchored in its position by means of some fan shaped ligaments, more or less at the height of the last rib -- the right one is always a little bit ahead of the left one, the same as with the kidneys. They are composed of two layers of tissue, an external one known as cortex and an internal, called medulla, which is the one that contains the nerves and blood vessels whilst the ovules are produced from cells contained in the cortex. Recent studies have confirmed that every female puppy is born with over 700,000 ovules or follicles in their ovaries, although most of these never reach maturity and are destroyed even before the first time they enter in heat.
Besides the production of ovules or follicles, the ovaries are equally responsible for the production of feminine sexual hormones (estrogen and progesterone), which determine the secondary sexual characteristics which give place to a more refined aspect of the body and the development of mammary glands.
