Neapolitan Mastiff Dog Breed

Neapolitan Mastiff Dog Breed

Italy

The impressive version that Italy had of its Mastiff did not caused much effect in the modern dog world until the mid-40s. However, there are many proofs, some of them of a geographical order, that it might be descendant of the Ancient Rome fighting dogs. Nowadays, it is used by the army and the police as an imposing guard dog, but on the more "particular" field it is considered a calm and friendly animal.

The Neapolitan Mastiff is one of the biggest and weighted breeds. It has a big and robust head, with abundant coat folds. The ears are normally trimmed quite short on its native country. The eyes color must combine with the coat or be darker. The tail has a sword form; it should not be over the loin.

The colors accepted are black, grey and multicolored – sometimes with little white spots in the chest and fingers. – Its height at withers is 65-72 cm for male dogs, and 60-68 for female dogs; it weights between 50-70 kilos.
