Levesque Dog Breed
France
The Levesque French hound descends from the cross between the Blue Gascogne and the foxhound; the specimens that resulted from this cross were interbred with other hound varieties. The breed is barely a century old, but it is considered a very uniform type. The eyes are light brown, and the ears are put at the level of the eyes; they are hanging and long, but they should not touch the floor when the dog is tracking. The tail is long, thick at the base and inserted high on the head; the dog must take it curved. The hair is short.
The color is invariably black and white. It is often seen a certain purple shade on black. The height at withers is 65 to 72 cm in males and 63 to 68 in females.
