Leonberger Dog Breed

Leonberger Dog Breed

Germany

The Leonberger is a German breed that appeared on the 18th Century as a result of breeding between the St. Bernard, the black and white (landseer colored) Terranova, and the Pyrenean Mountain Dog – a very international mixture. – It is still not very seen in most countries.

It has a wide head, a convex skull, and a well marked stop. The ears are at a high level, and are smooth and drop, but very big. The coat is dense and very long, which is not stuck to the body.

The color is beige, greyish-beige, or orange, generally with darker spots around the snout and eyes. Its height at withers is 76 cm for male dogs and 70 for females.
