Hormonal Functions of the Female Dog

Reproductive a good he is in the female dog is regulated by the same hormones as in males, although where the activity is produced is in the ovaries, whereas in the male it is in the testicles. The functional hormones in females are estradiol (The most powerful female hormone that occurs naturally; synthesized and used to treat oestrogen deficiency and breast cancer) and progesterone (A steroid hormone -- trade name Lipo-Lutin -- produced in the ovary; prepares and maintains the uterus for

pregnancy) whereas in the male it is simply testosterone. Besides, in both sexes, where the hormones are controlled is the brain and more concretely a part of it of it, known as hypothalamus where it produces a chemical substance known as the liberating hormone of gonadotropin (Hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland and placenta; stimulates the gonads and controls reproductive activity). It also stimulates the cells to produce what we know as FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) & LH (luteinizing hormone) which, in turn, induce the production of estradiol through the follicle cells of the ovaries; as we'll see their own, estradiol hands important functions during the complete cycle of estrus, meanwhile the balance between FSH and LH significantly vary during the cycle to first give way to ovulation and then to the production of progesterone, which is responsible for the continuity of pregnancy. Lastly, I must mention another hormone segregated by the oxytocin, which is a hormone secreted by the posterior pituitary gland (trade name Pitocin). What it does is stimulate contractions of the uterus and ejection of milk.
