Havanese Bichon Dog Breed

Havanese Bichon Dog Breed

Cuba

The International Canine Federation, the ICF does not indicate the country of origin of the Havanese Bichon although its name indicates a certain relationship with Cuba. Although its ancestors arrived to that island coming from Italy and France it can not be doubted that the breed had lived in Cuba for several centuries.

The Havanese Bichon has a more rectangular constitution than its closer relatives, the Maltese and the curly-haired Bichon. It has a wide skull but the snout is very pointy, the eyes are very dark and the ears hang blended forward. The tail is like a feather on the back. The hair is long and silky, slightly wavy at the ends and its color may change from white to fawn to tobacco dark brown. Sometimes it is spotted.

The height at withers is not specified for this breed, but its weight should not exceed 6 kg.
