Clumber Spaniel Dog Breed

Clumber Spaniel Dog Breed

Great Britain

The Clumber Spaniel has been announced as a breed that is appropriate for individualists, for those who do not like radios or other things of last fashion of modern life… and it is true that the clumber has a certain appearance of old-fashion dignity. Its peak was towards the end of the 19th century when the British aristocracy used it as a pointing dog. Today some specimens are seen outside Great Britain.

According to the standard, the clumber Spaniel gives the impression of a heavy, solid dog with a pensive expression. As a pointing dog it is necessary that it is also hard-working. Its head is big and square, the skull is wide and the occiput is prominent. The snout is strong and deep and the nose is flesh-colored; the legs are short, strong, with good bones. The tail is short and the hair is tight, silky and straight. The legs, tail and abdomen (but not the ears) must have good frayed edges.

The color is white with small lemon patches. The weight varies between 20 and 32 kg.
