Bullmastiff Dog BreedGreat Britain The Bullmastiff, an impressive dog of great weight, is scarce in many countries except for its native country, Great Britain, where is had several and loyal supporters since it was created as a result of breeds between bulldogs and mastiffs.It is believed that this breed had place several centuries ago, when the furtive hunt was found at its peak, and gamekeepers needed help against intruders. As the Bullmastiff was little interested in Sylvester hunt, was an ideal companion in the daily patrolling in these circumstances, thanks to its strength and great presence. Despite of its impressive aspect, it was – and continues to be – a quite good-natured dog that rarely hurt furtive hunters, to whom it caught up and kept immobile on the floor only with its weight. However, it was not until well into the 20th Century that it was acknowledged as a breed. The Bullmastiff needs to be robust and with a solid build, without looking ungraceful or clumsy. It has a big and square head, a short snout and dark-colored eyes. Its coat is short and tight. Its color is multicolored, beige, or red, with a dark mask around its eyes and over the snout. Its height at withers is 64-69 cm for male dogs and 61-66 for female dogs; it weights between 41-58 kilos. |
