Briard Dog Breed

Briard Dog Breed

France

The Briard has been characterized unfairly as a "one of mother nature's jokes", even though it does not stop from being true that one regards it as a breed to make fun of. However, the Briard is an excellent sheepdog highly appreciated in its country of origin. As far as we know, the small numbers of this breed found in other parts of the world are not used as working dogs.

The Briard is a tall dog, of long and shaggy hair. Its head has a protruding snout, trimmed ears, and it has bangs. It carries its tail low with feather-like bangs.

All colors are accepted, but in general the blackish grey is preferred. Its height at withers is from 62-68 cm long for male dogs and from 56 to 64 for female dogs.
