Brazilian Fila Dog Breed

Brazilian Fila Dog Breed

Brazil

The Brazilian mastiff directly descends from the Spanish mastiffs that accompanied the conquerors in their trips to South America in the 15th century. Since then, it has changed a lot that the International Canine Federation ICF has recognized it as a separate Brazilian breed. Also see Spanish Mastiff.

It is a typical mastiff breed: it is strong and imposing, it has a strong bone structure and a powerful head. The hindquarters look a bit taller and less heavy than the front ones; the tail is thick at the base, and it tapers towards the end. The eyes are dark; the ears are hanging, very big and V-shaped. The hair is short, tight and soft.

The Brazilian Fila is multi-colored or uniform color of any tone, provided that the white patches are limited to the feet and the end of the tail. It usually has a black mask and the ears are also black. It is strange that in the official standard the height at withers is not indicated for the breed, but 65 to 70 cm is an approximate average.
